Football clubs spent over $9.89 billion during the summer transfer window, setting an all-time record for total expenditure, according to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
More than 12,500 international transfers were registered during this period, marking a record number of deals for a summer transfer window.
English clubs spent the most—$3.02 billion—and also completed the highest number of transfers. Italian teams ranked second ($1.1 billion), followed by Spanish clubs ($940 million) in third place. German ($904 million) and French ($641 million) clubs rounded out the top five.
French clubs received the highest total amount from transfers—$1.7 billion. They were followed by clubs from England ($1.43 billion), Germany ($1.02 billion), Spain ($773 million), and Portugal ($642 million).
It is also noted that, in the context of the 2026 World Cup, a total of 267 players from the 47 countries that participated in the tournament changed clubs during the transfer window. The combined value of these deals exceeded $3.3 billion.
