Alexey Ganitsev, Head of the Department of Radiophysics and Microwave Engineering at MAI and a Telecom R&D development expert at Yadro, stated in an interview with Gazeta.Ru that by 2040, humanity could achieve an extremely close integration between the human brain and artificial intelligence. According to him, technological advancements—including in AI—will enable the creation of neural interfaces that allow users to control communications literally “from their minds.”
The expert noted that by 2040–2045, the conventional smartphone could become obsolete, replaced by network-connected neural interfaces. Ganitsev envisions the emergence of a device akin to a “flash drive” that could be fitted with an antenna, allowing users to “make calls from their minds.”
When asked whether AI might eventually govern humanity, the specialist acknowledged the possibility of developments leading to a global AI system. However, these remain mere predictions for now, and realizing them will require further research in the fields of neurotechnology and communications.
“There will be a sort of ‘flash drive’ that you can attach an antenna to and use to ‘make calls from your mind,'” the expert believes.
