In Nottinghamshire, 47-year-old police officer Catherine Walker was sentenced to six years in prison for the abuse of a nine-year-old boy in her care. The child was found unconscious in December 2024 and subsequently died in the hospital, The Sun reports.
The investigation revealed that the boy had been living for weeks in an unsuitable room lacking furniture, heating, and curtains. The door had no handle; instead, a lock had been installed on the outside. Walker attributed the conditions to renovations but pleaded guilty to child abuse.
She was suspended from duty during the investigation. The judge stated that she had deliberately concealed the situation and described her actions as intentional. Police also emphasized that the case involved child abuse rather than mere negligence.
