Two men were detained in New York after searching for valuables in the sewer system near the hotel where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was staying. The individuals involved were identified as Venezuelan nationals Kevin Rodriguez and Samuel Reveron, according to the New York Post.

The incident occurred early in the morning on September 23 on Park Avenue. Around 4:35 a.m., three people were spotted climbing out of a manhole near the hotel before driving away in two vehicles. Police reported that the incident was captured on surveillance footage.
Rodriguez and Reveron were detained the following day. According to case records, the men told police they had gone underground in search of valuables that might have ended up in the storm drains and sewer system.
On Friday, they appeared in a Manhattan court facing charges of trespassing and conspiracy. Both were released under supervision; their next hearing is scheduled for November 25.
Due to the UN General Assembly taking place in New York and the proximity of the hotel where Netanyahu was staying, police and federal agencies had conducted additional security checks in the area.
