Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has confirmed speculation regarding the sexual orientation of the British monarch, King Charles III. The Daily Beast reported this, citing Spencer’s memoirs.
Spencer recounted a conversation in which his sister told him she wanted a divorce. Initially, he tried to dissuade her from taking such a hasty step, but Diana convinced her brother that her decision was the right one.
“My husband is in love with his valet,” she explained.
In his memoirs, the Earl did not name Charles’s alleged lover, though the King’s longtime assistant, Michael Fawcett, had previously been identified as such.
This story first came to light in 1996, when George Smith, a former valet to Charles, alleged that he had been raped by one of the Prince’s aides in 1989. Smith also claimed to have once witnessed Charles and his senior servant engaging in sexual activity.
Charles denied the allegations, while his secretary emphasized that Smith was untrustworthy due to his alcohol addiction.
