American actor Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at an Aerosmith concert, as reported by The Independent.
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry—who, like Depp, is a member of the band Hollywood Vampires—introduced his colleague to the audience during the show on October 29 in California, declaring that Depp was “here, in all his glory.”
The actor was met with thunderous applause from the crowd before joining in on guitar for the song “Train Kept A-Rollin’.” His performance served as a prelude to the evening’s final number, “Walk This Way.”
Depp was not the only special guest; Dave Grohl—a rock legend known for his work with Foo Fighters and Nirvana—also took the stage, spending much of the evening on the drums.
Additionally, actresses Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone made an appearance, stepping out after a screening of the 1994 music video for “Crazy,” in which they both starred.
“Liv, we were just little kids back then. And today, we’ve brought our own little kids here. And Liv—she’s Steven Tyler’s actual daughter,” Silverstone remarked from the stage.
The show also featured Ann and Nancy Wilson of the band Heart, who joined Aerosmith to perform Aretha Franklin’s “Never Loved a Girl” and offered their own take on the 1989 track “Janie’s Got a Gun.”
Members of The Black Crowes also appeared to pay tribute to their peers in Aerosmith. The band’s frontman, Chris Robinson, recalled how Aerosmith supported them early in their career by bringing them along on a stadium tour, and he thanked his fellow musicians for that.
Axl Rose and Slash of Guns N’ Roses performed a set of their own, which included the Aerosmith songs “Nobody’s Fault,” “Last Child,” and “Seasons of Wither.”
