The son of the couple who are former Norwegian diplomats, Mona Juul and Terje Rød-Larsen, both under investigation due to their connections with financier Jeffrey Epstein, has reportedly taken his own life, according to Norwegian newspaper VG, citing the couple’s legal counsel, Thomas Skjærbred and John Christian Elden.
At the beginning of February, Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that Juul had resigned from her ambassadorial post amidst scrutiny surrounding her links to Epstein. Shortly thereafter, an official probe was initiated concerning both Juul and Rød-Larsen over their association with the financier: Juul faces allegations of corruption, while her husband is implicated as an accomplice.
“Terje Rød-Larsen and Mona Juul have lost their son,” the publication quotes the lawyers’ statement as saying.
According to their representatives, the 25-year-old ended his life.
VG reports that not long before his death, Epstein had bequeathed $10 million to the children of Rød-Larsen and Juul. The family purportedly never received these funds, and they maintained that they only learned of the bequest through media reports.
