
On Wednesday, May 20th, the Ice Hockey World Championship continued. The day concluded with a matchup between the national teams of the USA and Germany, both competing in Group A.
This game took place in Zurich, on the ice of the “Swiss Life Arena.”
The regulation time of the match ended in a 3:3 tie. For the American squad, Isaac Howard, Max Sasson, and Thomas Novak scored. The goals for the German team were netted by Moritz Seider, Frederik Tiffels, and Marc Michaelis.
An overtime period was then initiated. During this extra time, neither team managed to score. Consequently, a shootout ensued. In the shootout, the USA emerged victorious with a score of 4:3. The decisive goal was scored by Ryan Leonard.
With five points, the USA currently holds the fourth position in Group A. Germany has accumulated one point and is in seventh place.
