Individuals with lipid metabolism disorders should consume eggs with caution, preferably pairing them with fiber-rich foods, according to Ekaterina Kim, an associate professor at the Far Eastern Federal University’s Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology and a healthy eating specialist, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“For those predisposed to lipid metabolism issues and tending to have elevated cholesterol levels, eggs should be eaten carefully, as they might impact cholesterol. Perhaps one to two eggs per week would be advisable,” the source informed the agency.
She highlighted that the preparation method of eggs is also significant. For instance, if boiled and incorporated into a salad with fiber-containing ingredients, their assimilation would be enhanced.
“Even for those with lipid metabolism disorders, the effect won’t be substantial due to the abundance of fiber, as it helps bind substances that could otherwise have a negative impact. Therefore, the key lies in the combination, the form, and the thermal processing of the eggs,” Kim noted.
“People with egg intolerance or allergies typically experience noticeable reactions. However, metabolic disruptions might not present obvious symptoms, necessitating blood tests. Nevertheless, overall, eggs are a highly beneficial food when consumed appropriately,” the agency’s conversational partner added.
