In Jilin Province, China, rescuers used a drone to evacuate a cat that had been stranded in a tree for nearly two days, with the tree standing in the middle of a river swollen by floodwaters. This was reported by China News.
The animal was discovered near a bridge in the city of Jilin after intense rainfall caused the water level in the Songhua River to rise. Volunteers, police officers, and drone operators all took part in the rescue operation.
For the evacuation, a basket with food was fastened to the drone. Only on the third attempt did the cat independently climb into the basket, after which it was safely transported to the shore. By the time of its rescue, the cat was extremely weak from exhaustion.
