
Scientists have successfully generated quantum entanglement directly from sunlight. The team used a cone-shaped solar concentrator to focus sunlight into an optical fiber, which then directed the light to a nonlinear crystal where photon pairs became entangled. The resulting entanglement was about 94% similar to an ideal state and violated Bell’s inequality, confirming its quantum nature. This breakthrough could lead to more energy-efficient quantum communication, sensing, and computing systems — especially useful for satellites and space missions.
