Scientists from Cairo University and the Technical University of Munich, as part of the ScanPyramids project, have detected two previously unseen air anomalies in the third largest pyramid of Giza—the Pyramid of Menkaure. For some time now, the stonework of granite blocks on the eastern side of the more than 60-meter-high Pyramid of Menkaure has puzzled researchers. Tests using ground-penetrating radar, ultrasound, and electrical tomography confirmed the presence of two air voids beneath the eastern facade, providing the first evidence to support this hypothesis. One is located at a depth of 1.4 meters and measures 1 meter in height and 1.5 meters in width.
