Space experts have disclosed that the US research satellite, Van Allen Probe A, is slated for an imminent descent toward Earth. The craft is predicted by specialists to re-enter our planet’s atmosphere on March 11th.
According to reports from Naked Science, the 600-kilogram NASA satellite will leave its orbit and plunge into Earth’s atmosphere on Wednesday, March 11th. This device was initially launched in 2011 and maintained operational status until 2019.
During its fall, the majority of the NASA hardware is expected to be consumed by the atmosphere. Only minor remnants are likely to reach the Earth’s surface, with a high probability that these pieces will land in the ocean.
Previously, scientists had projected that both Van Allen Probe A and its counterpart would remain in orbit until 2034. However, heightened solar activity disrupted these calculations, leading to a premature termination of their mission in space.
