The husband was desperately opposed to ending his marriage.
In Great Britain, 42-year-old Alireza Askari has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his wife, 37-year-old Paria Veysi. According to BBC News, the tragedy unfolded against the backdrop of the wife’s desire to dissolve the union. The couple had separated six months prior to the fatal incident. Veysi was reported missing on April 12, 2025. A friend of hers immediately became suspicious of Askari, as the woman had previously confided in him about her fear of her husband. Police located remains in the garden of the accused man’s residence. The body was concealed in the location of a former pond and meticulously camouflaged with a flower bed. The investigation determined that Askari’s motive stemmed from his dread of the final marital separation. Concurrently, he maintained a long-distance relationship with a woman in Iran, to whom he disclosed his intentions. The man lured his estranged wife back to the house and attacked her with a knife. Afterward, he contacted his aunt, soliciting her help to dispose of the evidence. By the time she arrived, Askari had managed to shower, purchase cleaning supplies, rags, and gardening tools, inter the body in the garden, and plant vegetation for concealment. To deflect suspicion, he began impersonating his wife, using her mobile phone. Askari falsely informed her employer and relatives that Veysi was supposedly leaving the country temporarily. During the trial, Askari attempted to use schizophrenia as a defense, but the judge dismissed these claims, asserting that his mental state did not negate premeditation. Consequently, Askari received a life sentence. His aunt, who aided in concealing the crime, was also found guilty and sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
