The breakthrough came in the 44th minute when the London club’s striker, Viktor Gyökeres, converted a penalty kick. Julián Álvarez then leveled the scoreline from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.
It is noteworthy that at the 81-minute mark, the referee rescinded a second penalty awarded against “Atlético” following a review of the video replay.
The return fixture is scheduled for May 5th.
