Switzerland and Finland became the winners of the semi-final matches of the World Ice Hockey Championship. They will determine the gold medal winner on May 31. The tournament hosts from Switzerland thrashed the Norwegians, who reached this stage for the first time in their history, in their semi-final. The match ended with a score of 6-0. In the second game, the Finns and Canadians clashed: the Europeans took the lead in the fourth minute, but the Canadians got back into the game and were leading 2-1 by the end of the first period. Finland managed to turn the tide of the game in the second twenty-minute period. The final score on the scoreboard was 4-2 in favor of the Finns.
