
Matvey Safonov, the Russian goalkeeper for French football club (FC) Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), had his wife, Marina, take to the field with the Russian flag on May 30th, following her husband’s team’s triumph over Arsenal in the Champions League.
After the victory was announced, Marina Safonova draped herself in the Russian flag and descended from the stands to join the players celebrating their championship win. She also shared a video on her personal Telegram channel, where she congratulated the athletes.
“Guys, congratulations on the win! On the win,” she was quoted as saying by “Sport-Express.”
PSG defeated England’s Arsenal on May 30th, securing their second consecutive Champions League title. During regulation time, both teams scored one goal each. Kai Havertz of Arsenal opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Later, in the 65th minute, Ousmane Dembélé helped PSG equalize and bring the game back to a draw. Ultimately, PSG emerged victorious after a superior performance in the penalty shootout.
