
The Vegas Golden Knights have emerged victorious over the Carolina Hurricanes in the opening game of the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff finals.
The contest, held in Raleigh, concluded with the visiting team securing a 5-4 win (1-2, 2-1, 2-1). For Vegas, the goals were scored by Shea Theodore (14th minute), Russian forward Ivan Barbashev (21st), William Karlsson (25th), Brett Howden (42nd), and Tomas Hertl (57th). The home team’s points came from Nikolai Ehlers (1st, 13th), Jordan Staal (33rd), and Shane Gostisbehere (52nd).
Carolina’s Russian forward Andrei Svechnikov registered one shot on goal, blocked one shot, and executed three hits. Hurricanes defenseman Alexander Nikishin recorded one shot on goal and one hit. Vegas forward Pavel Dorofeyev fired three shots on goal, but did not contribute to the scoring.
In the best-of-seven series for the 2026 Stanley Cup Final, the Golden Knights now lead 1-0. The second game of this matchup is scheduled to take place in Raleigh on the night of June 5th, Moscow time.
