An eight-year-old boy in the Canadian province of Ontario has died after consuming a serving of ice cream, according to a report by Need To Know.
Liam Gartland, a resident of Ottawa, had severe allergies to dairy, eggs, and peanuts. His mother purchased a treat for him during an outing, having first confirmed that it contained no ingredients that would endanger her son.
However, as soon as the schoolboy tasted the dessert, he informed his mother, “I think there’s milk in this.” The child immediately experienced a severe reaction.
Medical professionals attempted to save Gartland’s life for several days, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Authorities are currently investigating how dairy products ended up in a product marketed as safe for individuals with allergies.
