The son of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Knox, has opted to drop his father’s surname and is now exclusively using his mother’s.
Having completed his studies at Fusion Academy in Los Angeles this year, the young man is officially documented as Knox Jolie on his graduation records. Though he is still about a month away from turning 18, he has decided to alter his family name now, rather than wait until he reaches the age of majority.

According to a Page Six insider close to the matter, the teenager’s mother, Angelina Jolie, “appears pleased” that her long-standing efforts to distance the children from their father are continuing to influence their choices. The source also indicated that the surname change serves as a symbolic gesture within the prolonged family dispute.
Furthermore, the source emphasized that Brad Pitt himself reportedly finds the situation distressing, believing that his children are gradually losing faith in him and that the family relationships are irrevocably damaged.
Previously, other children of the couple had also renounced the Pitt surname. Their daughter Shiloh updated her documents in 2024, and similar actions were taken by Maddox and Zahara. Vivienne, it is reported, also exclusively uses her mother’s last name.
