
On the Brno racetrack on July 12, a fatal accident occurred during a race of the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship, claiming the lives of two riders. The press service of the European Union of Motorcycle Racing reported the details of the tragedy.
The collision claimed the lives of 32-year-old Austrian Philipp Steinmayr, who sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot, and 43-year-old Romanian Adrian Rus, who was hospitalized in critical condition.
Medical professionals later confirmed the death of the second athlete as well. In light of the incident, the championship organizers decided to completely halt the event and cancel all races scheduled for July 12.
The organizers expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and requested that no additional information be shared out of respect for their loved ones.
