In the United Kingdom, two men lost their lives after attempting to rescue children who were drowning off the coast. This was reported by The Sun.
The tragedy occurred on July 12 at Seaton Carew beach in County Durham. According to the publication, two children began struggling in the water. Bystanders alerted rescue services, and several people on the beach rushed into the sea to help the minors.
Coast guards and emergency responders managed to save the children. They were taken to a hospital.
However, the two men who took part in the rescue attempt themselves went under the water. After they were pulled ashore, medics provided them with assistance at the scene, but they could not be saved.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
