American boxer Hannah Rapp has died at the age of 26 following a road traffic accident. This was reported by NBC News, citing the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
The tragedy occurred during a cycling trip in Texas. A car that had overtaken Rapp suddenly stopped, then reversed and struck the athlete, killing her. The driver was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
“Most Valuable Promotions is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Hannah Rapp. She was a talented athlete, a valued member of the boxing community, and a person held in high regard,” the promotional company said in a statement.
Rapp was a former contender for the World Boxing Council (WBC) title. On June 13, she fought for the championship belt but lost to Tyra Brown by judges’ decision. In the professional ring, the American secured eight wins against one loss and one draw, and during her career, she held the NABF title.
