Former world boxing champion, Briton Tyson Fury, has expressed his opinion that Russian boxer Murat Gassiev received his title without any real competition.
“All these guys were just given their titles. They never actually fought anyone to earn them. Wardley was handed a title. Dubois was handed a title. Kabayel was handed a title. Gassiev was handed a title. How can you compare these guys to me, someone who has fought boxing legends and beaten them? They’re in their own little group, while I’m at the top of the Empire State Building. They don’t have anything I need. They don’t have money. Their names… who even knows these people?” Fury’s words were quoted by ESPN.
On July 11, Gassiev secured a victory over German boxer Peter Kadiru during the “IBA.PRO 19” tournament in Moscow. The Russian successfully defended his WBA world champion title.
