
Russian synchronised swimmers secured first place in the preliminary round of the team free routine at the European Aquatics Championships, currently underway in Paris.
The Russian team — Kira Cherezova, Maya Doroshko, Ekaterina Kossova, Elizaveta Minaeva, Svetlana Pavlova, Elena Shabanova, Elizaveta Smirnova, and Olga Tyutyunik — scored 272.74 points. Spain took second place with 266.5275 points, while Italy finished third with 235.7041 points.
The final of the team free routine is scheduled for August 3.
The European Aquatics Championships are being held in Paris from July 31 to August 16. Russian athletes are competing in a neutral status.
