The ChatGPT app for Apple computers has gained the ability to send messages to the owner’s contacts on their behalf. The Independent reported on this new feature.
Developers integrated the AI model into iMessage, granting the updated macOS application access to user conversations. The chatbot can now analyze whom the device owner typically communicates with and the topics they discuss.
Using the collected data, the AI drafts messages and sends them to contacts. OpenAI clarified that this feature is not enabled by default and must be activated manually.
The app requests confirmation before sending any message, although users can disable this setting if they wish. Journalists highlighted potential privacy concerns, noting that Apple traditionally emphasizes protecting private user conversations and processing related data directly on the devices themselves.
