Real Madrid enjoyed a high-scoring evening at the Santiago Bernabéu, routing Real Sociedad 4–1. Kylian Mbappé scored three of the hosts’ four goals.

The scoring opened in the 40th minute. Mbappé received a low pass just outside the penalty area, shifted the ball to his left foot, beat a defender, and fired at goal. The visitors managed to equalize before halftime, with Luka Sučić finding the net in the 44th minute.
In the second half, the Frenchman put Madrid back in front. In the 60th minute, he played a quick one-two with Jude Bellingham, shook off his marker, and finished the move with a precise shot. Vinícius extended the lead in the 68th minute, and twelve minutes later, Mbappé turned the match into a rout. The forward received a pass from Vinícius on the flank and chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper with his left foot.
The Frenchman scored his three goals with remarkable timing—in the 40th, 60th, and 80th minutes. Mbappé had failed to score in the opening league match against Espanyol, but by his second game of the season, he had established himself as the star of the Madrid team.
It is worth noting that Mbappé finished the 2026 World Cup as the tournament’s top scorer. The Frenchman played eight matches and scored 10 goals. This marked Mbappé’s second consecutive World Cup Golden Boot; he had also topped the scoring charts at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, netting eight times.
