Researchers in Japan discovered that pterostilbene — a natural polyphenol found in blueberries, grapes, and other berries — may help muscle cells burn stored fat instead of accumulating it. In lab tests on mouse muscle cells, the compound reduced fat buildup. The key mechanism: pterostilbene stabilizes a protein called PPARδ, which regulates fat metabolism, by preventing its breakdown. This could pave the way for functional foods or supplements targeting muscle fat metabolism.
