
Kazakhstani tennis player Elena Rybakina has triumphed at the US Open. In the final match, she defeated Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus 6–4, 5–7, 6–2. The match lasted two hours and 23 minutes.
This marks the third Grand Slam title of Rybakina’s career and her second of the season. She will become the world number one starting next week.
Sabalenka has reached eight major finals, with a record of four wins and four losses. She will drop from the top spot in the WTA rankings to second place.
This was the 18th meeting between the two players; Rybakina now trails the head-to-head series 8–10. She had previously defeated Sabalenka in the Australian Open final.
