The worldwide Starlink satellite communication system has commenced offering complimentary broadband internet access in Iran, as reported by SpaceX staff member Dima Zenyuk. Thanks to Starlink, users can maintain contact with the outside world, bypassing restrictions from national carriers.
On January 8, the internet was shut down in the country, and telephony operations were also limited in certain areas. According to the latest update on the internet monitoring site NetBlocks, over 130 hours have passed in Iran since the nationwide internet restriction was imposed. Yesterday, it was mentioned that the internet had been out for five days already.
US President Donald Trump recently made a statement regarding intentions to restore the internet in Iran. According to the American leader, he is counting on assistance from the SpaceX company and its Starlink satellite service for providing connectivity in the nation.
