
The number of fatalities following the derailment of two trains in the Cordoba province of Spain has risen to 39. This was reported on January 19 by the Spanish state news agency EFE.
“A total of 39 individuals perished due to the train accident,” the report states.
According to the agency, 73 people have been hospitalized, with 24 of them in serious condition, including four minors.
The incident involving the two trains leaving the tracks was first reported on January 18 by the newspaper elPeriodico. At that time, two deaths and an unconfirmed number of injured were known, but later the death toll increased to five people, then grew to seven individuals.
