
On Sunday, May 24th, as part of the group stage of the 2026 Ice Hockey World Championship, a match took place between the national teams of Latvia and Great Britain. The Latvian hockey players secured a decisive victory with a score of 6:0.
For the winning team, the goals were scored by Mārtiņš Dzierkals, Deniss Smirnovs, Rūdolfs Balcers, Eduards Tralmaks, Haralds Egle, and Renārs Krastenbergs.
A total of 16 national teams are participating in the tournament. In the preliminary round, they are divided into two groups, with eight teams in each. The top four teams from each group advance to the playoffs. The teams that finish in the last, eighth place, will be relegated from the top division to Division I Group A.
