Several famous American artists have refused to perform at events dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the United States. According to organizers, more than half of the invited performers have canceled their participation in the concerts. One of the latest to announce their withdrawal was Poison frontman Bret Michaels. The musician stated that he initially viewed the project as a celebration for the country’s residents, veterans, and emergency service personnel, but later changed his mind. Rapper Young MC took a similar stance. According to him, artists were not notified in advance about the potential political component of the events. Among those who have also refused to participate are Morris Day, The Commodores, C+C Music Factory, Martina McBride, and the group Milli Vanilli. The festive program is being organized by Freedom 250, an entity established by Donald Trump’s administration.
