According to the Independent publication, Mick Schumacher, the son of the famous driver Michael Schumacher, has decided to shift the focus of his career away from Formula 1 and will continue competing in the IndyCar series starting from the 2026 season. During the 2021 and 2022 racing years, Mick Schumacher drove for the Haas team in Formula 1, while simultaneously serving as a reserve driver for Mercedes. Schumacher’s first race on the IndyCar calendar is scheduled for March 1, 2026, and will take place in St. Petersburg, Florida. It is important to recall that in December 2013, Michael Schumacher suffered a severe head injury following an incident while skiing. The most recent update on his condition, released by the Schumacher family, came in September 2021. This coincided with the release of a documentary about the driver on Netflix, where his relatives stated that he cannot move or communicate independently. Schumacher Sr. is a seven-time Formula 1 champion. He holds several significant records in the F1 World Championship: the most fastest laps (77) and the most consecutive titles won (five). Furthermore, he ranks second in history for the number of victories (91), podium finishes (155), and pole positions (68), trailing only Lewis Hamilton in these metrics.
