Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogačar, riding for UAE Team Emirates XRG, has claimed victory in the 113th edition of the Tour de France.
The final, 21st stage, which concluded on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, covered a shortened route of 89 kilometers instead of the original 133 kilometers. The stage was won by Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel of Alpecin – Premier Tech, who completed the distance in 1 hour, 58 minutes, and 49 seconds. His Belgian teammate Jasper Philipsen took second place, while Denmark’s Mads Pedersen, representing Lidl-Trek, finished third. Pogačar crossed the line in 30th place, trailing the leaders by 17 seconds.
In the overall classification of the Tour de France, Pogačar’s time stood at 73 hours, 56 minutes, and 26 seconds. Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel of Bora-Hansgrohe secured second place, finishing 6 minutes and 26 seconds behind, while Pogačar’s Mexican teammate Isaac Del Toro came in third, 9 minutes and 42 seconds back.
Pogačar has now won the tour for the third consecutive time, having previously triumphed in 2020 and 2021. The 27-year-old Slovenian has matched the record for the most Tour de France victories, joining Frenchmen Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault, Belgian Eddy Merckx, and Spaniard Miguel Indurain.
