In a Group Stage match for the 2026 World Cup, the French national team emerged victorious over Senegal.
The game, held at MetLife Stadium in the USA, concluded with a scoreline of 3-1.
Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock in the 66th minute. Bradley Barcola extended France’s lead in the 72nd minute. Ibrahim Mbaye managed to pull one back for Senegal in added time at the end of the second half (90 + 5), but just a minute later, Mbappé secured France’s third goal.
It is worth noting that during the second half, Senegalese forward Sadio Mané made a tackle on Mbappé inside his own penalty area. However, the referee, after reviewing the incident with VAR, decided not to award a penalty.
In the upcoming matchday, Senegal is scheduled to face Norway, while France will play against Iraq. Both of these contests are set to take place on June 23rd.
The 2026 World Cup tournament is being hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11th to July 19th.
