Irish actress Brenda Fricker has passed away at the age of 82. This was reported by the BBC.
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed. The tragedy was announced by the actress’s agent, Phil Belfield. He shared memories of the celebrity.
“We will never see anyone like her again, and the world is poorer without her. It was an honor to know, love and work with her. She will forever remain in my heart and in the hearts of many film and television fans around the world,” the actress’s representative said.
Fricker was best known for her role in the drama “My Left Foot” (1989). In 1990, she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the mother of Daniel Day-Lewis’s character.
The actress was also remembered for other notable roles. She played Nurse Megan Roach in the BBC series “Casualty,” where she worked from 1986 to 2010. Fans of family comedies know her for her role as the “pigeon lady” in the film “Home Alone 2” (1992).
Fricker was married to actor Barry Davies until 1988. During that time, she was pregnant six times, but all attempts ended in miscarriages. In her later years, she lived in Bristol with her partner Joe.
