An aircraft engineer in the UK has died from injuries sustained at work, according to The Sun newspaper.
The report states that 23-year-old Virgin employee Georgie Buxton was inside a compartment of a Boeing 787 airliner when a component crushed him.
He was taken to the hospital and placed on life support.
The young Briton died a month later without regaining consciousness.
“The cause of death is not yet clear. Flights involving this aircraft have been suspended until further notice,” an aviation industry source told the publication.
Meanwhile, the airline that owns the aircraft in question has contacted the manufacturer to identify the technical fault.
“Heavy metal parts must not be allowed to detach from a jet engine during flight,” the article notes.
