The CEO of “Dr.Web,” Boris Sharov, has announced the discovery of the JobStealer trojan, which poses a danger to both macOS and Windows. This malicious software is capable of targeting Apple device owners, dispelling the myth of this operating system’s invulnerability.
Recently identified by the antivirus firm “Dr.Web,” a piece of malicious software identified as the JobStealer trojan poses a threat to both macOS and Windows platforms. This was confirmed in an interview with RIA Novosti by Boris Sharov, the CEO of the antivirus company “Dr.Web.”
“The key aspect here is the very fact that macOS is being targeted by these attacks. It’s widely known that cryptocurrency users and those seeking high-paying job opportunities typically opt for devices running this operating system, under the assumption that it offers security and is free from viruses. However, as practice demonstrates, this is far from the reality,” Sharov stated.
He further elaborated that the JobStealer trojan affects systems running both Windows and macOS. The head of the antivirus company added that such attacks are not only directed at individual job seekers but also at companies searching for skilled professionals. This incident serves as a reminder to users about the importance of adhering to enhanced cybersecurity measures, given the escalating complexity of threats in the digital landscape.
