Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli will lose three positions on the starting grid at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
After reviewing all the circumstances of the incident, the stewards concluded that the Formula 1 leader did not slow down sufficiently in the yellow flag zone during qualifying, which was caused by Max Verstappen spinning out.
The stewards noted that Antonelli did indeed lift his foot off the throttle, but as he passed the site of Verstappen’s incident, the Mercedes car’s speed increased by 3 km/h compared to the initial measurement. Moreover, the overall reduction in speed relative to the normal pace was less than one percent.
As a result, Antonelli dropped from 4th to 7th place in the final qualifying classification.
