
Ten individuals perished in a Sydney beach shooting, with 11 injured, including two police officers. This was reported by authorities on December 14th.
“The demise of ten people is confirmed, among them a man believed to be one of the assailants. The second suspected shooter is in critical condition. Currently, 11 injured individuals are also reported, two of whom are law enforcement personnel,” stated the release on the law enforcement agency’s page on social network X (formerly Twitter).
It is also noted that the police operation is ongoing. According to 9News, the bridge utilized by the shooters might be rigged with explosives.
“Police cautioned that an explosive device may have been placed on the bridge that the shooters traversed, and a search for potential ordnance is now underway,” the report mentioned.
Unknown persons opened fire on people near the Sydney beach on December 14th. Preliminary information suggests at least 10 fatalities. According to the news.com.au portal, a third perpetrator voluntarily surrendered to the police.
One eyewitness to the Sydney shooting recounted that the sound of gunfire lasted several minutes. He stated that initially, around six sharp noises were heard, after which the shooting continued for another two to three minutes—totaling approximately 40–50 shots.
Later, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the Sydney beach shooting as a shocking and deeply unsettling occurrence.
