The expected duration for these geomagnetic disturbances is estimated at 2 to 3 days. Storms of this magnitude possess the capacity to affect power grids and radio communications predominantly in higher latitudes, while the impact in central and southern regions of the country is expected to be minimal.
This marks the second geomagnetic storm in March, though it is the first one of any real significance. An earlier, brief event occurred on March 4th, which was largely uncorrelated with external solar origins. So far in 2026, 17 days exhibiting magnetic storms have been recorded (accounting for 23% of the year), surpassing last year’s figure where such days amounted to 19%.
