WhatsApp, the popular messaging service, is working on an update that will introduce a distinct list of contacts currently online for its users. This information comes from the WABetaInfo portal.
Presently, a user’s online status is only visible within an ongoing conversation; you can see an “online” indicator or their last seen time at the top of the chat window.
However, in upcoming iterations of the application, a new “Contacts” section will be introduced. This area will showcase individuals who have recently been active on the platform. The developers anticipate that this new feature will streamline communication and make it easier to connect with individuals who are available for immediate conversation.
Furthermore, this section will offer functionalities for searching contacts via a search bar, manually adding phone numbers, or utilizing QR codes. Users will also gain the ability to manage their favorite contacts and arrange them alphabetically by name.
Crucially, the system will respect existing privacy settings. Individuals who have chosen to hide their online status or last seen time will not appear in this new contact list.
