South Korea’s government, along with Hyundai Motor (KS:005380) and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA), are in the concluding stages of discussions to establish a dedicated artificial intelligence technology hub within the nation, as reported by the Korea Economic Daily on Thursday.
The newspaper, citing sources from both government and industry officials, indicated that the Saemangeum land reclamation project on South Korea’s southwest coast has emerged as the prime contender for the hub’s location.
This new center is anticipated to mirror NVIDIA’s existing research facilities, such as those in Singapore and Taiwan. It appears to be a natural progression from the memorandum of understanding that Hyundai and NVIDIA inked in October 2025, wherein NVIDIA committed to supplying Hyundai with graphics processing units and collaborating on AI initiatives within South Korea.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to visit South Korea this week, with expectations that he will meet with Hyundai’s Chairman Euisun Chung and other prominent corporate leaders on Friday.
