The head coach of “Manchester United” stated that he does not read offensive comments about himself for self-protection.
“Encountering [online abuse] is normal in any profession. I do not read it to shield myself. I do not watch television when they discuss ‘Manchester United.’ It’s not because I disagree with it—I often concur—but it’s a way to maintain well-being. My own feelings as a coach suffice; I need nothing further. The only method is to protect oneself; there is no alternative. Certainly, I forgo income from sponsors. I could earn substantial money on Instagram, but [the issues with] safeguarding my family and normal life are not worth extra dollars or pounds. It’s not worth it. I defend myself, and nobody can be harsher toward me when we lose or perform poorly. Such insults are truly standard nowadays, so this is the sole way to survive in this sphere,” Amorim remarked.
