Ovechkin marked this accomplishment during an away regular season game versus the “San Jose Sharks.”
This success allows the 40-year-old Russian to become the absolute NHL record-holder for the number of goals in the league’s regular seasons. The goal scored in the contest against San Jose was Ovechkin’s 910th in his professional ice career.
The prior record, which belonged to the famous Canadian Wayne Gretzky, was 894 goals scored over 1487 games.
